About the Author:

I’m National News Editor, Jane Akre and I began Mesh Medical Device News Desk aka Mesh News Desk (MND) in the summer of 2011 just after the Food and Drug Administration issued an explicit warning to the public that complications associated with surgical mesh used for prolapse repair (POP) and incontinence (SUI) are NOT rare! That was the starting point for the litigation you see today and thousands of lawsuits have been filed by women whose lives have been altered, some permanently, by the use of this petroleum-based product.

Hello, I had hernia mesh surgery June 2014. Since than I have been in lots of pain with a bulging painful hernia I am going to see my doctor but my mother told me today its a recall..do this mean I have to have another surgery again

Very few meshes have been recalled… some are causing complications without any recall notice… that’s why its important to make your report to the FDA, Medwatch, to make sure all of the complications are being considered. Even with that, most recalls are voluntary and based on economic decisions. Please do not rely on the FDA for guidance……

Hello Jane, Joining the long list of your readers. It has been two years and the current firm{Flint Law} informed me today that my JandJEthicon case is in Judge Goodwins court. How does one follow up on how that progresses? It is a relief that we out here have you to be an advocate. My heart goes out to so many women who are suffering far worse than me. Bless them.Oregon girl
