About the Author:

I’m National News Editor, Jane Akre and I began Mesh Medical Device News Desk aka Mesh News Desk (MND) in the summer of 2011 just after the Food and Drug Administration issued an explicit warning to the public that complications associated with surgical mesh used for prolapse repair (POP) and incontinence (SUI) are NOT rare! That was the starting point for the litigation you see today and thousands of lawsuits have been filed by women whose lives have been altered, some permanently, by the use of this petroleum-based product.

We are hearing a possible consolidation reports in the mesh cases, have you ? I was hoping for more information, Bloomberg News was reporting about the consolidation a report by a J Feeley. Any information would be nice. I am being represented by a Philadelphia law firm, not hearing much from them either,

I have had both vaginal and rectal mesh implants and according to my records they are the ones that have been causing all the problems in women. I was okay for a few months but now have the same problems–only worse. I cannot control my bladder AT ALL and I have to push on my vaginal area in order to deficate. I have no warning that I have to urinate until it is leaking out of me and when I do go to urinate I have to bend over and push on my bladder. I am not expreiencing any substantial pain at this time but am afraid it is next in line. I had the surgery in Aughus of 2009. Any help or answers would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

Sorry for the misspelling. I did not proofread before I sent the comment.

My wife had her implant in 2009(January) in Texas. A little over a year later she had the first of six strokes (that they know of). These strokes were caused by Calcium Deposits, which threw the Doctor a ‘curve ball’. Has anyone else besides the usual problems with the Transvaginal Mesh had any strokes that they think were caused by the implant?

Susan, I haven’t heard any thing concrete but my attorney is saying that abunch of the attorneys. Are getting together to work together so everyone gets a good share of the settlement. My problem with this is he was going to go forward and start negotiations for my settlement now he is saying he is going to wait to give the attorneys time to negotiate for everyone.I have empathy for all the women who these guys have hurt but this has devistated my life and I need some money to move on with my life and now he is telling me it could be another year before this is all done. I was hoping it would be a rather decent amount since other women received settlements over a million dollars. I have heard it will one considerably less than that, under 100 thousand. Then by the time you take attorneys fees out it won’t be nothing. I feel after what these people did to me it should many times more than that but with the number of cases we all wil be lucky if they don’t file Bankrupcty maybe it’s just my attorney I would be glad to hear from Nyone else’s. I hate this having to wait and I know nothing. My life is at a stall and I am just waiting that is all I can do

I presume many of us have stories to tell regarding the TVM and of what it has done to the female anatomy.

My first procedure was Oct 2010 was a CR BARD aka now just BARD -TVT-Oand I have just had the second one Oct 2014 which was just 3 weeks ago which is now a BOSTON SCIENTIFIC -TVT. Much to say the least after a year and half problems arose. The biggest one that brought laughter to my best friend who is also my general surgeon is that I have to “pee aka void like a dog” In other words sitting on the toilet I need to lean to the left and hold onto the vanity while I raise my right leg on my tippy toes and pull it backwards to allow the urine to tilt to the left and be able to expel” Yes, my body then looks like the Italian Ship the Concordia leaving over.

There is still the need for personal protection as well. As for the internal things that were going on I could not see I am not the URO-GYN that performed this surgery. This man is tops in his field and I have to travel 100 miles around trip to his office and be operated in the same hospital that he is credited at which is fine.

These medical manufacturers were suppose to make sure these implants were fit for human and did not take the necessary measurements to do so and only assured for animals. So therefore they did not consider the fact of the intense heat within the female body and this mesh rolls on the sides causing to malfunction.

Prior to 2nd operation I had to undergo two weeks of testing which became stressful upon me due to cardiac problems. This to me seemed endless for sure.

The beginning of 2014 I hired a major law firm in New York City that left my case sit and did not file it and then I heard not conducive enough to pull a 6 figure amount so I requested they send me a letter stating they were no longer handling me.

In keeping a track of what law firms I spoke with and of what their reply was is horrible of being turned down. The big law firms in Philly came right out and said “not interested” An attorney on the same road as my son in law said no and I am sure if I stated I was so in so’s mother in law he would have jumped to it big time.

Several others stated they would get the paperwork out such as the Disclaimer and the HIPPA but I wanted immediate action and stated I need to find someone to do this all by electronic e-mailing. I did find a law firm in Dallas, Tex that works with another large law group for handling this type of medical liability issue. In my verbal to them I stated either you handle it or you don’t and no matter whether it is legal or medical a case is a case and needs to be taken care of. Yes they are handling my case.

Not many people keep records as I do to which everyone needs to request from their PCP a copy of all medical records each time they go and into a file cabinet in alpha order.

The implant number as well as the sticker page and all doctors reports and hospital discharge are all part of the case. I HAVE LEGALLY PREPRED MY OWN CASE as I am a Para Legal and no I do not work for a law firm but do have the diploma for prepare documentation etc but not represent anyone in court.

Thus as well as in my file cabinet is the same on my desktop of my computer should these lawyers need anything.

I have personally suggested to my attorneys many things as I have been told that many cases get 0 others will get the standard fee of $48,000 minus legal fees and then there are those that get more.

There are currently 60,000 cases in the MDL in West Va where the judge will pick 300 to 500 cases to be heard by him and all others are to be tried to settle out of court or they get sent back to their origin of injury to which is what I HAVE REQUESTED mine be sent back to my area and I WANT TO SPEAK.

The lady that was awarded the $74 million got it dropped to half minus her legal fees of 33 1/3 % so it still leave her with a tidy sum.

I stated that if CR BARD took the $830 million that they made for the 3rd qtr of 2014 and divided it among the 10,000 cases they have would be a nice sum for each person. If they gave each person $3 million and paid their legal fees privately so that each person could keep their $3 million would have been a fabulous incentive on CR BARDS part but as we all know these large corporations like to have their cake and icing as well.

Additionally, from what I have heard, read and understand there is to be some type of settlement possibly by the end of 2014.

As for me I certainly hope my lawyers listened to me to sue the balls off of them and please do excuse the verbal at this time.

If I knew of the proper forms to use I would have represented my self in Superior Court and saved the legal fee and frustration and put it to them. Either settle or I take it further.

Each case is different and none should be paid the same it is not fair.

Are these companies thinking of what is or will happen down the road from now as each person gets older. Loss of wages, loss of consortium and the mental anguish that goes along with all of it and the self dignity that one cannot go and do as they use to.

Thank you for allowing me to post this as it may give some insight as to what is or is not going on. I do have to say “shame on the law firms that refused to handle anyone’s case because the almighty buck was not going to play the way they wanted it to!” I have been to 2 large Philly law firms and several South Jersey ones and would never refer them.

Ladies we need hang in there and speak out peace in court!
