Wales TV and Mesh Campaign

Mesh Medical Device News Desk, September 16, 2017 ~ In the last two weeks, your editor has heard from six or more journalists, who want to know more about pelvic mesh. Thanks to the outreach globally by mesh campaigns in Australia, Scotland and the  UK to bring awareness. Their willingness to go public has sparked some long overdue awareness on behalf of the media.

Maxine is speaking out on television in Wales. Made in North Wales TV to be specific.

She was brought to the attention of broadcasters through Kath Sansom and the UK Sling the Mesh Campaign.  This is just the latest in a series of broadcasts around the world about the mesh debacle.

'Sling the Mesh' Campaign

"Worse than childbirth" – that's how a woman from Connah's Quay described the painful complications following the insertion of mesh tape intended to cure incontinence. Maxine Cooper is calling for a public enquiry in to the issue and already has the backing of her local AM and MP. She's also joined a campaign group called Sling the mesh

About the Author:

I’m National News Editor, Jane Akre and I began Mesh Medical Device News Desk aka Mesh News Desk (MND) in the summer of 2011 just after the Food and Drug Administration issued an explicit warning to the public that complications associated with surgical mesh used for prolapse repair (POP) and incontinence (SUI) are NOT rare! That was the starting point for the litigation you see today and thousands of lawsuits have been filed by women whose lives have been altered, some permanently, by the use of this petroleum-based product.

Jane, Maybe this journalist can inspire a good dedicated journalist here in USA. Do you think?

I honestly think any good dedicated journalist in the US has had plenty of exposure to this topic to think if they were interested, they would have run with it. In the meantime you have me. Sorry…I havent been successful in taking it further……

Hi Dy- That is such a sweet sentiment. I’m not sure I can keep reporting in that I have to bring in some revenue here…..I’m trying to figure it out. I know people think I make money as a legal referral service, or something but that is not true! People simply make up things So I’m trying to find some new clients to write for… stay tuned. I appreciate the pat on the back.
