About the Author:

I’m National News Editor, Jane Akre and I began Mesh Medical Device News Desk aka Mesh News Desk (MND) in the summer of 2011 just after the Food and Drug Administration issued an explicit warning to the public that complications associated with surgical mesh used for prolapse repair (POP) and incontinence (SUI) are NOT rare! That was the starting point for the litigation you see today and thousands of lawsuits have been filed by women whose lives have been altered, some permanently, by the use of this petroleum-based product.

    Medical Genital Mutilation/United States version

Innovative torture brought to you by the U.S. medical device industry.

Wonderful job, Jade. She looks like I feel. Mesh is torture.

Yes it is mutilation. The adverse effects of what I believe is the mesh that are occurring within my body has baffled many a doctor these days. Had a heart catheterization after the dreadful nuclear stress test warranted, almost killing me. So, I had the procedure and my heart has very little change from the last one I had in 2011. It is in good shape as far as blockages are concerned. My mitral valve has a bend in it that could of caused all the commotion. They stopped my heart and restarted it to get a normal rhythm . So, this is good news. I’m not sure what if anything will be done about the bend in mitral valve. I’ll find out on Wednesday. I still have no idea what is causing all the swelling in my abdomen, legs and feet as it is not my heart and my kidney functions are normal? After arriving home from having the heart cathe, I was on the computer and my eyes starting rapidly flashing bright white grey geometric shapes clustered moving in a counter clock wise direction. It lasted for 5 minutes. Went to the ER no one knows. Typical answer. My question is with all heart caths performed and on your instructions for what to watch for it states if your have any changes in vision go to the hospital. So another bill and I went by ambulance I still do not know. So I am hoping to get clearance for mesh removal. Maybe just maybe that will help.

The abdominal swelling you’re referring to is caused by inflammation. We called it “pregnant belly”. It is common with mesh sufferer’s. It goes away after the mesh is removed.

Disgusted. Thank you. Now I am really disgusted, humiliated, just a big blob these days. I always had a very nice figure my gut sticks out and hangs over my privates and my but sticks out can’t suck in anything and standing up straight is impossible. I was so embarrassed, frustrated and mad that it took 2-3 women to move me during my recent procedures. I’m dead weight a blubbery blob and I absolutely hate it. I was just reminded of my apple shape compliments of Ethicon, TVT EXACT Gyenecare Incontinence system when I came down the stairs and looked at myself in the mirror (Which I usually stay away from). So on top of all my other injuries and harm this mesh has caused me. My former self is distorted, disfigured. I don’t even look like me. I may sound vein but if you never had a weight problem, I’m freaked out. Also and I believe I read that because of no estrogen and is it the autoimmune you produced more testosterone hence more facial hair and thyroid etc. etc. Hey the hits keep coming . Don’t you love it. There just is no way of covering up and masking the effects of mesh. I look and feel awful. I never won a beauty contest but come on this is hideous. Thank you all for the space to boo hoo it. Maybe I can move on and not be so upset. Apple…. the shape you will be after implanting a mesh sling.

i have that… “pregnant belly”…. i had no idea it was from mesh. its just big gobby fat! yuck. oh my gosh. thank you all.. learn something new every time i get on the computer, but its weird, i can’t eat a lot. i would tell my husband i can’t get full, it makes me hurt worse down there, i would eat and i would have so much pressure. i didn’t know why i was feeling like that.. now i know. its the mesh. my hands and feet swell really bad too. i swear if i could get a hold of mesh makers. and the doctors that I’ve been to.. NOT DR.RAZ.. the ones before him. it would be really bad. I’m not a mean person, but i would be mean to them. i lay and think about how long its been that i felt good, I’ve forgot what it feels like. I’ve cried off and on all day today.. Saturdays have always been my cleaning day.. each saturday that passes, i am worse, and the things that i always done, i CANT DO…its been a ugly rainy day, i look sick, i feel so sick, and i hurt. (I’m sorry to complain so much.. but nobody understands.

i wish dr. raz would have a cancellation, i would go in a minute ..

***DO ANY of you know if he ever has cancellations?? AND has it happened for any of ya’ll?

        thank you!

Dear surgeryinmay, I had as you have read an all out blubbering day over my blubber on Saturday. I should never look at my self ever again.. I feel your despair. The mental anguish, stress, depression, loneliness along with the unknown is overwhelming at times. Try to remember that we all are pulling for each other, whether in a pray, special thoughts and somehow were going to make it after all…….Spring is just around the corner. It’s almost Ground Hog Day…….

My son has two mesh hernia implants that I just learned are now mashomas. He can hardly walk. The pain is excruciating. The hospital says there is no one here who can help. Trying to get him to Florida to see Dr. Ramshaw. The VA, Medicare and Medicaid who caused all his problems now all of a sudden think he’s not worth saving.

I CARE. DAWN AND ALL OF YOU!!!!!! There is a God and He is full of WRATH for all the criminals and deviants who enjoy causing other people pain just to make a lot of air money.

That’s my address, but there are no tee shirts at the present time…. Huuum… an idea!

  12. jade January 23, 2015 at 1:11 pm - Reply

If there’s enough interest in purchasing T-shirts, I can look into it. Let me know. Thank you all for your compliments on the graphic. I intended this as a tribute to all of us who have suffered and lost our lives, both virtually and literally. Thanks to our supporters, like Jane, who have been so diligent in their quest to report the TRUTH behind the MESH.

I am sorry jade to rain on your parade But your mesh mask is gruesome and freakish it makes me feel like a freak which I ProbabLY am. As for me I’ll wear the bracelet.

Hi, Kitty – Thank you for your critique. Your description is exactly what I intended to depict in the graphic. You are NOT a freak and don’t let anyone ever convince you of that. You are a women who is in pain and suffering the horrible complications of these mesh implants. I appreciate your review.

    Here are some ideas:

    1) Incontinence? 20 minute surgery – lifetime of torture.

    2) Considering a GOLD STANDARD SLING? Think again . . .

    3) Lost your sex appeal due to annoying incontinence? Remember MESH=NO SEX

    4) Need a sling? In on Friday back to work on Monday. YEAH RIGHT! See

    5) I lost my life to MINIMALLY INVASIVE MESH

I have had 4 children , twins that where breech, hysterectomy, but nothing prepared me for the excruciating pain I have suffered since having the tvt mesh implant, + 2 ops to try and remove it, it can only be described as someone inserting a knife and slowly cutting torturously through your inside.and no amount of painkillers helping!

My caption would be ( When will the MESH truth be heard! ) It seems like the courts are doing everything it can to cover up the UGLY truth for the Pharma that are making a ton of money . We are nothing but lab rats to them. How they can put a permanent implant in anyone without any long term studies is beyond me. Were is the so called FDA on this. They continue to allow these products to be implanted in unsuspecting women. It doesn’t matter what type of implant it is or what they call it or how they redesign it. The truth of the matter is that proprolene should not be used in the human body period. Some may have worse reactions than others. However I believe from all I have read that it is all bad. Weather a woman has an immediate reaction or issue down the road it seem inevitable we all have major problems. How the government can sit back and not inrtervien in a matter like this is beyond me. We go into our Doctors with the belief they know what they are doing and have our health in thier hands only to find out the big Pharma are pulling the strings with them as well. When and how can we as citizens put a stop to this injustice. Any thoughts?
