December already? It seems as though this year has just passed by with greater speed than ever before.... is that what happens when you get older? I hope not.

Mesh Medical Device News Desk began in the summer of 2011 because your editor saw a need to consolidate news and information and to "Put a Face on Adverse Events." It was clear that the FDA was looking at numbers only and doctors were confounded by the high number of mesh complications they were encountering only to turn away patients who complained. It's all in your head too many women were told. Thanks to all of you raising a ruckus the deny and delay is occurring less and less frequently.

Please let me know what you would like to see on these pages and in our corresponding Facebook pages and Legal advice columns. (janeakre@meshnewsdesk.com) Obviously answers are not quickly forthcoming via the courts in that we have trials scheduled into 2014! What are mesh victims supposed to do in the meantime?

Doctors and lawyers need to communicate to you here since many do not have the staff to answer your many questions. Get your law firm to write a column to address some of you many questions. Not only do they speak to a large number of people at one time, lessening the burden on their offices, but they appear to care about the welfare of their clients. Those columns can be sponsored so that MND can continue with investigations and to advance the mesh awareness globally. It's a win-win no?!

The Carolyn Jones trial against C.R. Bard and the last of four bellwethers in federal court is now scheduled for January 10 a Friday? Interesting day to start a trial. A pre-conference meeting is set for the day before so stay tuned if there is any effort by Bard to settle that case too. So far the New Jersey-based company has failed to secure any wins before a jury. Ultimately it becomes a numbers game and cheaper for the company to settle than to risk another punitive award, such as the Cisson case of $1.75 million.

Meanwhile women are contacting MND from around the world- Zimbabwe, Israel, Australia and New Zealand. Some are partnering with U.S.-based attorneys but if there is a shortage of competent doctors in the U.S. who can address complications, can you image how it is in Zimbabwe?
