Lunch and Learn

April 12, 2102 ~ Beverly Martiniano has a good idea. Start a Lunch and Learn Meeting for Meshies group- advertise on Craigslist or Tweet– use social media on your local newspaper and television stations, Facebook for your local area, even an announcement in the paper. Get together with others and share information and support each other. I bet the numbers will grow when people hear about it.

Cool idea!

Dear Jane,

I met today for lunch with 3 ladies all suffering from mesh implants.  One has had a surgery, one has had 4 surgeries and one has had none.  Being careful not to talk about particulars, it was so helpful to have the support of others that are experiencing the same things.  We have decided to meet again May 16th at 11 am at MiMi’s Restarurant, at Desert Ridge Shopping Center, at Tatum Blvd and Hwy 101.  We posted an announcement of the meeting on the local Craig’s list and on this facebook link.  Just posted “Meshie’s meeting for support group, with place date and time.  Can you post this on your Newsletter site also?  Of course it is just Arizona women.  But it is a start.

I’m National News Editor, Jane Akre and I began Mesh Medical Device News Desk aka Mesh News Desk (MND) in the summer of 2011 just after the Food and Drug Administration issued an explicit warning to the public that complications associated with surgical mesh used for prolapse repair (POP) and incontinence (SUI) are NOT rare! That was the starting point for the litigation you see today and thousands of lawsuits have been filed by women whose lives have been altered, some permanently, by the use of this petroleum-based product.

How awesome Beverly! We need to all keep this ball rolling, so many women are setting at home in misery right now asking “what is wrong with me”. Without us being heard these women will continue to hear from doctors “its not the mesh” and their suffering will never end! Thank you Beverly!

    Hi Bev,

It was nice meeting you for lunch/support. Just wanted to make a minor correction. I had two explant surgeries and then had sui correction surgery, the Surgeon used my own fascia to hold my bladder up.
